Incredibly exciting new star
I've never heard of Jonas Kauffman before, but I am awed by this emerging star. His singing is supple, elegant and resonant, a beautiful velvety edge to his voice but the core is strong, commanding. I'm eager to see him perform live - if his voice and presence on stage equal his recording voice and looks, we could have a superstar here!
Promissing Young Star
Jonas Kaufmann is rising fast in the world of opera. This recording of arias is very versatile... a bit too ambitious possibly. It's not every day that you hear Che gelida manina and Salut demeure chaste et pure on the same album as Morgenlich leuchtend and Io l'ho perduta. As an artist he carries off each aria with an individual flare and honesty. Che gelida does lose a bit of the tenderness in a voice the size of Kaufmann's, but overall I would say this CD is quite an artistic accomplishment. Somebody to watch out for over the next few years.
Not since Luciano!
Amazing. What an incredible talent and that voice! A gift for us all. The timber the passion no one sings like this anymore, and I mean NO ONE!!! There is an urgency an unspoiled manliness. I am so grateful that he opens his soul to us. It is with this great risk that offer great rewards. Thank you Jonas. Thank you for allowing us to believe in talent again. In any genre he reaches a place that no contemporary artist come close to. Nancie de Ross
