Album Review

Trial By Fire is from Washington, D.C., and the band has no qualms about wearing its emotions proudly and unapologetically on its sleeve, yet manages to not ape Fugazi or record for Dischord. Ringing in the Dawn is a speedy romp that doesn't let its self-awareness get too whiny or its social commentary too dogmatic to get in the way of a bare-knuckles hardcore resonance that combines melodic intervention, catchy riffing, and surprisingly strong vocals that exist somewhere between singing and screaming, courtesy of Jason Yawn. ~ Brian O'Neill, Rovi

Customer Reviews

There did not need to be more than one album

This was my favorite album when I was in high school. My senior quote, in fact, was a combination of lines from "Steps of St. Johns" and "Point an Inward Finger." They broke up after they released this, and I never got to see them live. This was their only album, but they didn't need any more. Furious, passionate DC hardcore. Most bands don't have an album this good over the course of their entire careers.

A burning moment in time

…frozen in music forever. Spectacular, complex, unpredictable hardcore.
