Get the Hell

Get the Hell

Sensing there’s been a dearth of flat-out rock ’n’ roll albums in recent years, Eddie Spaghetti and Supersuckers go for broke on their ninth studio album, Get the Hell, and live up to their personal claim of being “The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World.” That’s how no-nonsense this set is. From the moment the title track gets going, the fearless foursome yield no ground. Other Supersuckers records have detoured into various styles or spent more time goofin’ around, but Get the Hell takes its sordid living seriously. Even “Never Let Me Down Again,” a Depeche Mode cover, is played with honest conviction, while a version of Gary Glitter’s “Rock On” is an anthem that shows Supersuckers are arena-ready. While Supersuckers’ audience has largely been with punk rockers and alternative music fans, songs such as “F*** Up,” “High Tonight,” “Gluttonous,” “Disaster Bastard," and “Bein’ Bad” should fit any AC/DC or Motorhead fan’s idea of a good time. Long live rock!
