We Came to Rock You erupts out of the stereo as ferociously as many of the classic arena rock albums it was inspired by. Recorded live at the Mermaid Lounge in New Orleans, the album is incredibly warm and almost intimate, capturing catcalls and hoots from the obviously small crowd. Comically titled songs like "Rock and Roll Tried to Ruin My Life" and "Rock and Roll Star" harkens back to a time when rock & roll was larger than life and concert tickets cost $18.50. The cornerstone of all things Supagroup is the lead guitar work, which is just as frenzied as that of the short-panted Angus Young. In fact, the Chris and Benji Lee borrow heavily from the Young brothers in many regards, although their sound also owes a lot to Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, and the Supersuckers. It must be those Gibson SGs and Marshall stacks.
