iTunes Review

For their sixth album, Screaming Females work with producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Pearl Jam) in place of Steve Albini, who’d produced their previous two albums. The change means a fuller sound without a slick neutering of the band. “Broken Neck,” “Hopeless,” and the title track benefit from a powerful guitar tone and having Marissa Paternoster’s vocals securely in the mix. The harmonies, in particular, take on dramatic color. The New Jersey–based power trio succeed by never overdoing their parts, leaving just enough room for the sound to resonate beyond its initial station. Rose Mountain refines the trio’s attack to keep things interesting.

Screaming Females Do No WRONG

Screamales just keep getting better

The three songs released prior to the album's release date assure that the band's positive and impressive musical growth.
Over the past 5 years I've been familiar with them, they have consistently been the greatest live show around.
Here's thanks to a fantastic trio from the surprising New Brunswick punk scene.

Can this band ever do wrong?

Once again, SFs have produced another play-from-first-to-last album. No song skippers in here. What I'm really liking about this album is that the sound engineering is the best they've had to date. Hopefully you've been listening to this album via NPR prior to the release. Now, onto see the shows!

Mixing equal parts Dinosaur Jr. and Sleater-Kinney, the Brunswick trio of Marissa Paternoster (guitar/vocals), Michael Abbate (bass), and Jarrett Dougherty (drums) strives to embody the spirit of indie rock in its purest form; Screaming Females book their own shows and self-released many of their own records to bring their guitar-driven rock to the people...
