The Sufis are the branch of Islam that does not believe in violence and are famous for both their singing and dancing (the “Whirling Dervishes” of history were Sufi). Music is forbidden in most of the Mideast so the Sufis mainly migrated to Pakistan, Islamic but not nearly as militant about it. I’m sure some of them migrated on into Indian. Their religious singing is famous for its beauty and the late Nusrat fatah Ali Khan was named by many voice experts as “the best voice “ in the world. The most famous American Sufi is Mohammad Ali, a bit of a “dervish” himself. Great music for meditation,
