Fun ethnic-ska-punk album

This album is great if you like ska (great use of horns by Mad Heads) and punk with an ethnic influence. A lot of the songs sound like updated Ukrainian folk songs (some are) or even Ukrainian drinking songs - very fun. I can't pick a favorite, though I like the drunken yet dynamic feel of Char Dash (the rhythm picks up), and I think Ya na Mori ("I'm at the sea") has a great melody and playful arrangement. Galu, Prihod is a VV classic. If you're interested in this genre, the band Mad Heads is a good bet and has a few albums out (the band describes its style as psychobilly), while Mandry and VV are more diverse (and both have been around for a LONG time - great albums and lots of hits ... for VV, check out Tantsi and Kolyskova - the animation in the video for the latter is AMAZING). Can't speak much for the other bands, though I'm going to look into them now that I've heard them here!

intro to gypsy dance

if your looking for a good starting point for gypsy dance, this album is a cheap must have. not great, but for ten bucks totally worth it. it'll come in handy for the long drive home from Mehanata.
