Album Review

Filled with mystery, drama, and tension, Michael Giacchino's original score to John Carter, the big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Princess of Mars, beautifully sets the tone for this science fiction adventure. Evoking the dramatic tension of classic scores by luminaries like John Williams, the soundtrack easily conjures images of the iconic hero's adventures across the red planet, creating the tension required for blockbuster action while also capturing the loneliness of the movie's sprawling deserts. For anyone wanting to take a musical journey back to the film, or just looking to add a more epic tone to their everyday life, the John Carter score is sure to please.

To Mitchell Clark

I love your review, but you forgot to mention John Williams. John Williams is one of the Top Dogs, without him Sith Lords would have no epic entrance, E.T wouldn't make anyone cry at the end, and Indiana Jones would just be your average explorer. :D

Pobalo the snow person is a whiny little kid

Michael Giacchino has proven his scores a hundred times over with compelling musical literature like "Up", "Star Trek" and more, and the title hilarity is just the icing on the cake. This score I found especially enticing, especially the aura and overwhelming emotion like in "Carter They Come, Carter They Fall". Its ingenius, and I can guarantee it matches the movie elegantly. I've always believed this movie's backstory made it more than worth watching, and Disney made the right choice in landing one of the best composers in film; this day and age. Names like Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore have dominated the screens, but its unfair of anyone to debunk work as stellar as this. Down with the whiny little kid who thinks rap is a genre.

One of the greats

Michael Giacchino is proving to be one of the greats of this generation of film composers. This score is just one more example of why he is great.
