Classic Kamelot!

Beautiful, dark, thought-provoking, and Tommy Karevik is a refreshing replacement for Roy Khan. Can't wait for the full album!

A different Kamelot, but still great

Huge fan of Kamelot many years now, I was devastated when Roy Khan left the band. Tommy is a very talented singer based on his tenure in Seventh Wonder, and definitely adds his own imprint onto the band without completely changing their sound and image. However, it just seems like the band didn't let him use the full range of his voice/potential throughout the song like they seem to do during live performances. Despite this, the song comes off as a strong group effort from the entire band, which is different from the singer-focused works of 'Ghost Opera' and 'Poetry for the Poisoned.' Casey Grillo (drums) and Thomas Youngblood (lead guitar) are wonderful as always, and Oliver Palotai (keyboards) belts out a great scheme in places throughout the song. While a few backup/support singers make appearances, don't expect anything like 'March of Mephisto' - their roles are very brief.

Keep in mind that this is one part of a concept album, so it won't make complete sense until the full album is released in October. Based on what's available, I think that fans of 'The Black Halo' will be pleasantly surprised with this song without thinking of it as too much of a carbon copy of days gone by. Definitely worth checking out if you're a Kamelot fan desperate for new material since Roy's departure a couple years ago, don't write this one off just because it's not the same band of the past several albums. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Amazing track

I dowloaded this right at midnight and I am not disappointed, this is such a classic Kamelot track. Great guitar riffs and great orchestration topped off by great vocals. I can't wait till the full album. I was going to say something about the Tommy and the Khan comparisons, but no need, Tommy does a great job here and cements himself firmly as the new voice of Kamelot.
