So ahead of their time!

Saigon Kick was one of the few bands in the 80s,that werent afraid to take chances.Their downfall was that radio and Record companys couldnt put them neatley under one genre. So like most things original and creative they let it die on the vine.MTV has ruined music. You will not be dissapointed in this album,it stands up and destroys anything out there today.

Why are bands expected to stick to one sound?

There is nothing wrong with an album that varies so much in sound and style. However, this does present a problem to people who exclusively like straight metal and not catchy alternative, or the other way around. All I can say to these people is GET THE BUG OUT OF YOUR BUTT AND ENJOY!.. Its hard to argue against the fact that regardless of what style each song on this album maybe... it is an excellent sampling of the particular style.. and enjoyable to anyone who is capable of truly enjoying things. The only complaint I have about this album is the quality of the sound is slightly less than there others... which is the case with most debut albums anyway... BUY THIS ALBUM!

Saigin Kick

I discovered this band back in 1991 at the age of 19. I heard them on the radio and liked what I heard, so I bought their alblum and I was hooked. What a breathe of fresh air from the processed 80's/90's hair metal sound.I found them ahead of their time. They offered hard driven metal/alternative style guitar solos, combined with great harmonic vocals and every song did have it's own distinct flavor/sound.They were huge Beatles fans......I have have seen them Live 3 times and have met the band members and can only say positive things about the shows and them. I was always puzzled why they did not blow up and become wildly successful. I'm guessing they just came out at the wrong time in music history. Now i'm 37 years old. About a year ago I dug Saigon Kick's 1st alblum and The Lizard 2nd alblum out of some boxes and listened to them. I rediscovered this band. In my opinion they are still rock and are relevant. Check them out you won't be disappointed.

Formed: 1988

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s

Hard rockers Saigon Kick formed in Miami in 1988 with a lineup including Matt Kramer, Jason Bieler, Tom DeFile and Phil Varone. The band played around the region, and signed with Third Stone/Atlantic in 1990. Saigon Kick's self-titled debut LP did okay, but the following year's album, The Lizard, broke the band with the number-12 single "Love Is on the Way". Just months after the group's success, Tom DeFile left, later to be replaced by Chris McLernon for 1993's Water. The album proved disappointing,...
