Customer Reviews

A very good album.

I've played Of Sailors and Whales before! But, in our performance, we didn't do Father Mapple. I guess Dr. Harris didn't want a bunch of kids singing. The effect was not wasted at all, though. I played first trombone in it. Those low B flats in the White Whale movement are pretty awesome. We played Queequeg a lot faster than what is recorded here. The bagpipes and drums are pretty tight in this album, too! The Holst Second Suite isn't the best I've heard. That position goes to the Fennell-Cleveland Symphonic Winds recording under Telarc. But, this is not a bad recording, either. It's all good stuff on this. The only thing I wish is that the album artwork was a little more representative of what was being played and who was playing it. Other than that, great job, College of Wooster.
