Notas editoriales de iTunes

In 1963, Sam Cooke was one of the biggest soul stars in America. Like Ray Charles, he'd made huge inroads into the white showbiz world while retaining his unique qualities of voice and vision. His engagement at one of the country's most important nightclubs, New York's Copacabana, was a natural subject for the only live album Cooke released during his lifetime. At the Copa mostly shies away from the singer's hits, instead offering everything from "Bill Bailey" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" to Bob Dylan's then-recent "Blowin' in the Wind" (a particular favorite of Cooke's; it inspired him to write his own timeless anthem "A Change is Gonna Come"). The album works in two ways: as a document of another side of the man's talents, and a subtle Civil Rights-era infiltration of African-American culture into the most mainstream adult venue possible.

A Great Album-But not for Everyone

This is a very good Sam Cooke album, but probably isn't for everyone. If you want the more Sinatra like crooner side of Sam, then get this album. He is at his smoothest in this album. If you want his raw side, I suggest you purchase One Night Stand instead, either way you are getting an album from one of the greats of music and one of the creators of soul

Sam Cooke at the Copa

At the hight of his career, Sam Cooke played an explosive chain of lively shows all across the U.S. At this particular show, Sam Cooke performed his current hits, 'Twistin' the Night Away' and 'Tennessee Waltz'. But he also suprised his viewers by play Bob Dylan's hit 'Blowin' in the Wind' and adding the gospel-influenced touch Sam is well known for. Sam Cooke at the Copa contains some of Sam's longer recordings, such as 'If I Had a Hammer(The Hammer Song)' which bring out Sam's seemingly endless energy for live performances.

The Greatest Singer Ever!!

This album showcases the greatest R&B voice of all time. For people who are serious about vocals, and music, this is a must for you. Sam Cooke was a "singer's singer" and this album shows that! Get it!

Sam Cooke was the most important soul singer in history — he was also the inventor of soul music, and its most popular and beloved performer in both the black and white communities. Equally important, he was among the first modern black performers and composers to attend to the business side of the music business, and founded both a record label and a publishing company as an extension of his careers as a singer and composer. Yet, those business interests didn't prevent him from being engaged...
