Customer Reviews

For fans of the epic game known as No More Heroes and smooth jazz fans alike.

I was surprised to see this album up for download here since iTunes has a long and proud history of being musically illiterate towards anything video game soundtrack related. But that's probably because this album stands on it's own as a musical entity rather then an extension of the original No More Heroes soundtrack. That being said, The Outer Rim truly does stand as it's own musical entity. All while still retaining full knowledge of where it comes from and sprinkling hilarious fan service to No More Heroes. That alone is reason enough to make it a must buy for any fan of the game mentioned above. Beside the fact that the first track is a remix of the No More Heroes theme, it's also a vocal drama featuring the original english voice actors of No More Heroes. (Specifically main characters Travis Touchdown and Silvia Christal.) I wont give away what the story is and leave it a surprise for all those fans who are curious. But let me assure you, it's worth it for the mere $8.91 iTunes is offering if for. It surely beats importing the CD for $15 to $30 as I myself was about to do. Good thing I stayed true to my gut instinct and checked iTunes first. What's also nice to know is that Metal Gear Solid series music producer Norihiko Hibino is on board with the band playing Sax and Computer for every track. It's nice to know as you sit down and listen and catch onto all the sprinkles of Metal Gear's musical influence from track to track. So all in all, I'd recommend this album to two groups. First is smooth Jazz fans for the sheer quality of the music. Second is No More Heroes or video game soundtrack fans in general for all the hilarious fan service. This album never forgets where it comes from and never stops having fun with it for a second. Now if only we could see more video game music hosted on iTunes as it deserves to be.

No More Heroes Fans Rejoice

Okay, yes, you might want more songs from No More Heroes than just the theme, but until iTunes decides to put up more video game soundtracks, this spectacular version of the theme is the best you're going to get. With that out of the way, this whole album is very good. I honestly think that this is an album you should take a chance on. All the songs on this album are really good jazz, and hearing the storyline with Travis and Silvia from N.M.H. play out through out the album is fun, although there isn't much to it. This album is definitely not for everyone, but if you're willing to spend an extra $7.92 for all the songs instead of getting just the one, I don't think you will be disapointed.
