Rating the songs...

First off-- EXCELLENT album. Score 1 for Breaking Benjamin. The only noticeable flaw is that it starts out with the slower songs and almost failed to hook me. On to the ratings: Wish I May-- 4/5-- Good beginning, caught me right off. Medicate-- 2/5-- DEFINITELY not their best work. I can't tell if that's guitar near the end or if the band is humming along to the song. Maybe it's both. But it sounds odd. Polyamorous-- 5/5-- So many people (myself included) love this song that it's hard to find a Breaking Benjamin fan who doesn't agree with the rating. Nicely laid beginning, cool solos, great voice overlay, and a nice chorus to boot. One of the band's highlights. Skin--3/5-- good start, but I lost interest after the second verse. Pre-chorus is good, though the actual chorus is odd: "You're covered in my skin, I couldn't imagine anyone else..." Natural Life-- 3.5/5-- good song, but the vocals aren't as catchy as I'd like. Next to Nothing-- 4/5-- a good attempt at a softer song, and they did well. I give them a fourth star for the change of pace from hard rock to a softer pace. Water-- 5/5-- PURE AWESOME. If you like their heavier, more guitar driven songs, check this one out. don't be fooled by the beginning (just wind for a few seconds), it's a perfect addition to an already beautiful CD. This song marks the start of the good half of the Album. Home-- 5/5-- All about The Wizard of Oz. When you think of the movie, you think "Oh yay, happy munchkin land!" But this song isn't like that- it's quite a tad darker. When the lead guitar isn't chugging out the chords, Ben Burnley is turning innocent sounding words like "home" into dying animal sounds, sort of creepy actually. Phase-- 5/5-- On every one of their albums, there's a song that starts out with only one instrument and gradually crescendos into a roaring behemoth of energy and power-laden guitar slamming-- So Cold (We Are Not Alone) with the bass, Diary of Jane (Phobia) with the echoing guitar, and finally Phase, starting with drums and adding on with shakers and the three other guitars. Like I said before, it starts out slow, but turns exciting and jumps into the listener's favorites list. No Games-- 2/5-- meh. downside to the better part of the CD. reasons- vocals. LAME. Sugarcoat-- 5/5-- after the slow spot of No Games, we return to classic Breaking Benjamin- hard, loud and fast. The chorus is possibly the greatest on the CD, although only keen listeners can tell what he says (it's hard to understand the various sounds of a mad... creature). The guitar solo in the middle sounds like Guns N' Roses and AC/DC. Shallow Bay-- 4/5-- everything is great except the chorus. It's repetitive, boring, and overly specific to California (woo CA!). Although I wonder what iTunes did with the second half of this song. Forever--5/5-- AHA! this was originally meant to be the second half of Shallow Bay, but I like it better as an individual song. BEAUTIFUL song! Breaking Benjamin tried to make a soft ballad, and this is the result! I like their heavier songs, but this song makes me smile (or get teary-eyed) every time I listen to it! Overall, this album deserves AT LEAST a rating of four stars. If you're happily settled with Breaking Benjamin or just want a good Rock listen, check out this cd.

I've been a big Breaking Benjamin fan ever since i saw the music video for "So Cold"!!! I then proceeded to see what their other songs are like...and ofcourse they all kicka$$!!! If you like bands like Crossfade, Disturbed, Creed, Chevelle, and Shinedown...then you may like Breaking Benjamin...My personal Favs on Saturate are: Polyamorous, Wish I May, Next To Nothing, and Sugarcoat...and on We Are Not Alone: So Cold, Follow, Believe, and Away!!! Breaking Benjamin is currently in the recording studio creating their next album...which is suppose to come out some time between the spring and the summer of 2006...Breaking Benjamin is going to become be ready!!!
