KENNA's done it again....a sonic masterpiece....from top to bottom, this albums brilliant!!!! Loose WIres, Say Goodbye to Love, Sun Red Sky Blue my favorites, oh and the bonus track Down!!!!

Exciting.

Kenna is an interesting artist. Kenna is a unique artist. Kenna is a real artist. Catch my drift? No? Well take a listen to "Make Sure They See My Face," and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Kenna, a popular figure in the underground music scene, is gunning for some mainstream success with his sophomore album, "Make Sure They See My Face." This album is a wonderful blend of electronica, alternative rock, synthpop, and hip-hop. Stand out track, "Say Goodbye to Love" (Produced by Pharrell Williams) is a futuristic treat. What makes the album fun is it's bouncy electro vibe, displayed in songs like "Face the Gun/Good Luck." Kenna is very imaginative, sort of like a kid who is bored at school and is taken away by daydreams of grandeur. Take "Be Still" for instance, a moderately soft electro-ballad that surprisingly comes after a mountain of loud beats and crashes. It's like a kid rampaging through your house who suddenly becomes immobilized sleeping on the floor. "Make Sure They See My Face" is perfectly contemporary without being generic or predictable. You don't know what to expect next from Kenna, and that's what is great about him.

Expansive, Imaginative, Rich Music

Thanks to Kenna for being an ARTIST - i.e. someone who follows creative impulses rather than commercial cues. His voice on tracks like Daylight, Sun Red Sky Blue is an instrument of considerable emotional impact. The songs follow their own maps, each is its own complex composition. This is not music for people who want a pre-packaged, easily classifiable pop nugget - the scope of Kenna's imagination is too broad for that - as evidenced by the difference between the buoyant high energy pop of Say Goodbye to Love and the plaintive and spacious soundscape of Static. Throughout, the musicianship is high level. Kenna's new album gives me a sense of the possible - at a time when limitations about in the music industry.
