What is it that makes Ace Young's "Scattered" such an impressive debut single to me? Is it the refreshing musicianship in the midst of today's glut of overproduced, manufactured synth-voice techno sounds that makes me think of a real singer and a real band? Is it the originality of the arrangement, in which r&b fuses with rock to create a seamlessly catchy pop tune? Is it the smooth soulfulness of Ace's voice and the emotion he imparts that make me really feel the song? Yeah. Or is it the way both the verses and the chorus stay with me throughout the day, making me move my head, bounce my knee, and smile? Yeah again. Whatever the combination of reasons, I like what I like, and I like "Scattered." A lot.
"Scattered", the first single from American Idol finalist Ace Young, is an amazing display of his range, versatility, and other abilities as a recording artist. There are the low, growly parts of the song, and most certainly the highs. This man rocks the falsetto like no other. I highly reccomend buying this song - it's a hit!
Catchy song. Love the vocals. The words tell a great story. It reminded me of a time when the love of my life was on my mind so much I couldn't think of anything else. Made it hard to work, eat, etc. "Scattered" would describe it. Oh, how I miss that.
