This is good
I really like the way Starker performs these concertos. He really knows how to play. During the fast parts of the pieces he never misses a note, and can play the lyrical sections with an intensity that shocks you. I am playing the Lalo right now, but cannot match the way he plays it. The first movement of the Lalo is especially impressive.
Not too bad
It seems to me that the piece is taken a little slower than normal, but still not bad. He plays all the notes, although he doesn't quite "attack" them as you'd expect. (Maybe it's just my taste, but some parts lacked ferocity to me where it really needed it.) Overall, not a waste of money, but there are still better recordings out there.
Shuman Cello Concerto
Best version of Schuman's masterpiece. Starker's own Cadenza adds the mystique.
