Long live Beaton!

Wow, I can't believe Beaton is on iTunes. I've been an Alex Beaton fan ever since mom used to took us to the Highland Games in Norcal when we were kids. We'd watch him live, she'd buy his records and we'd all sing along to the awesome, awesome songs. This guy is a treasure - his kingly voice and sweet guitar skills will make you want to put on some plaid, sip a Glenmorrangie (neat, of course) and go pinch some fair lassies' bottoms. Highlights are Skye Boat Song, Hey Johnny Cope, Ae Fond Kiss and Loch Lomond. Buy this album or you're lame.

20 Hits of Scotland

Alex Beaton is “the King” in the realm of Scottish Folk. His artistry shines in every exemplary performance, with interminable excellence in traditional Scottish music, Scottish-American country and Scottish Folk. Though I admit to having my own favorites; such as The Water is Wide and the new Songs of Robert Burns, Alex’s intuitive ability to chose the best of music, to invite each melody to join his consummate repertoire, preserving the simplistic core and making it his own, exudes in every album, including the 20 Hits of Scotland. Alex has been a part of my love for music since the moment I first heard him nearly twenty years ago. He is a treasure… listen to his albums, see him live in concert but don’t miss a chance to hear… Alex Beaton!!!

Great Accent and Voice.

I like this CD a lot. I deleted 2 of the songs after buying the album though. Wee Castanettes and Big Nellie May had language in it I didn't like, you can decide what you want to do. I like his voice and accent well. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars was I don't think guitar goes the best with Scottish Music. I think Scottish Music sounds better with Bagpipe or Fiddle accompaniment. Otherwise I think it's a great buy!
