iTunes Review

Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas are yet another high-energy export from a city that’s never been short on music. Her Latin roots can be heard in a classic rock ’n’ roll sound that includes touches of girl-group pop, R&B, surf, and Motown. Secret Evil was finally released in 2014 after a two-year holdup due to a record-label merger. The EP Demons was issued in the interim in 2013. Produced by Latin GRAMMY winner Milo Froideval and mixed by current label head Richard Gottehrer, Secret Evil fulfills on all promises, highlighting an easeful sound that's both modern and retro, from the driving opener “No Place to Hide” to the cruising ska of “Dead Brains” and the Latin-influenced “Run Run Run.” The Iveys provide the perfect girl-group accompaniment to the playful “Sorry I Stole Your Man.” Hernandez dominates the album with a vocal style that’s strong on phrasing and attitude (“Over”) while avoiding the pitfalls of divas who mistake a multitude of notes for style. “Cry Cry Cry” demonstrates her peerless talents with a brokenhearted ballad.

A truly great masterpiece of R&B, soulful blues and jazz notes with pop. A truly fantastic album that is great to listen to any time, anywhere

Fantastic!!

I had the great luck of seeing her open for Gogol Bordello Nov.13 & Nov.14 here in Minneapolis and I was blown away by her energy and her awesome voice!!I came home and immediately downloaded the EP and this great album!!
I love her sound and style and sounds great whether she's singing something soulful and soft as she does when she sings powwerfully on the hard charged songs.
If you get the chance to see her live...GO!!You won't regreat it!!

One of the best albums that I have ever heard

This is the best album that I have heard in a long time. Instantly in the top ten modern albums that i have ever heard.

Biography

Genre: Alternative

Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas are a wide-ranging, high-energy rock & roll band from Detroit. Their mercurial, often gritty sound reflects all of the Motor City's musical traditions as well as some outside its geographical and multicultural boundaries. In its thoroughly modern, driving mix are traces of Motown, tough vintage R&B, Latin grooves, raucous surf, neo-psych, roots rock, cinema jazz, and retro '60s girl group pop. Hernandez is the first-generation American daughter of a Mexican mother and...
