Album Review

A minute or so into the slickly produced anthem "See the Light," and the listener's "boy band" meter will immediately go off. But that's no surprise. The quartet's Jonathan Lippmann founded 98º and has found the joy of the Lord as appealing as singing about problems with girls. The fun with the Christian-themed boy bands is taking fun, fluffy music and putting deep, eternally themed lyrics to them, and the vibers succeed at this, with a few members even co-writing a handful of songs. The opening song talks about the responsibility of Christians to be a light in a dark world, while other songs are more simple and worshipful ("You Are Holy"). Other titles are about as deep as the songs, such as "More," "Pray," and "Forgiven." But simple is better because it's impossible not to tap the toes and sing along. The last tune, "Not What I Say (But What I Do)," is the best showcase for their incredible harmonies, a very Take 6-like tune done a cappella.

Wow!

I used to LOVE this group, but totally forgot about them!!! They are an older but awesme christian group!! Enjoy!

Excellent Band - Give Them a Try

These guys rock!!!! They didn't receive the acclaim they rightfully deserved when they were together. The music market was changing at the time and things just didn't work out as hoped. Love their talent and appreciate their endeavor to lift up the name of Jesus. Their blended harmonies are unbelievable and it shows that they worked hard at their craft. You will not be disappointed in this CD or their other recording, "True Vibe". My only regret is that they separated and moved on to other things. I have looked for them to individually show up in other bands or ventures -- Jason Barton is a member of 33 Miles (which is a great band as well). My favorites: See the Light, Supernatural, You Are Holy, Pray, Forgiven, and my absolute favorite Love Is Calling, Not What I Say (completely accapella).

First was best

Though this is a great classic, the first almbum was the best. Best songs in my opinion are jump jump jump and see the light.

Years Active: '00s

True Vibe, composed of members Jonathan Lippmann, Nathan Gaddis, Jason Barton, and Jordan Roe, was born out of Lippmann's desire to pursue musical excellence without watering down his Christian faith. A founding member of the pop group 98 Degrees, Lippmann decided to leave the band just as they were signing a recording contract. While the decision was due in part to previously made acting commitments, Lippmann also wanted to place a greater emphasis and focus on his relationship with God. The...
