iTunes Review

Intended as an examination of 21st-century femininity and masculinity, Laura Marling’s sixth album drills into her friendships and relationships with absorbing intimacy. Musically, it’s one of her finest records too. She consistently finds a captivating balance between immediacy, nuance, and adventure—whether she’s plucking cascading acoustic melodies on “Nouel” or creating a suspenseful union of hushed electronic beats, filmic strings and snaking electric guitar on “Don’t Pass Me By.”

Don't need to hear it

I don't need to hear this album. The first time I heard her I was transfixed. She went straight to my soul. I thought it odd that I am very much older than Laura, old enough to be her grandmother, yet her music cannot be denied. Not here anyway. I do not listen to any other music of Laura's peers. Just hers. Dear Laura Marling, you had me at hello. Continue on, Starlight. I am the water beneath your wave.

Another gem from Laura

She is a fantastic songwriter and performer. Put on some good headphones and get lost for 40 minutes in her perfectly accentuated voice and storytelling. Every album reaches another climax, she's that good!

Solid throughout. Just, just solid.

Nose to tail the entire album is quality. Substantive and no throwaways.
