Album Review

Rusted Root's debut album is an agreeable collection of post-hippie folk/rock. Drawing from The Grateful Dead, Phish, and Graceland-era Paul Simon in equal measures, the band can certainly work a low-key groove, spinning out solos and singsong melodies at well. They haven't perfected their songwriting yet — many of the songs sound underdeveloped — but their music sounds mature and hints at their potential.

Send me on my way; Cruel Sun

Send Me on My Way is their greatest song of course; It was the perfect song for the Ice Age movie. Cruel Sun is outstanding as well in my opinion. These are the two songs definitely worth checking out.

A Rock Essential, keeping it real.

There is no band quite like Rusted Root. Their intense energy and soulful lyrics make every song an instant classic. This is an album you wont be able to turn off! One of Rusted Root's best albums, this is a great mix of some fast and slower songs. Classic dance-jams such as "Send Me on My Way", "Ecstasy" and "Martyr" are balanced by slower, more contemplative songs such as "Beautiful People" and "Back to the Earth." Buy this album, you wont regret it!

This is one of those rare albums that you can just put on and listen straight through... It's one of my favorites for long car trips- Keeps you awake with GREAT MUSIC! Classic!
