Death Before Dishonor

Death Before Dishonor

A Christian rapper from Cincinnati, D-M.A.U.B. (short for Dedicated to Making All Underestimaters Believe) has released several quality projects over the years, building a strong following of religious-minded Midwestern hip-hop heads. He's got a very distinct style on the microphone, bouncing around from flow to flow, flipping enthusiastic, extra-fast verses one minute and layered, hyper-annunciated joints the next, kind of sounding like a cross between E-40, Twista, and Tech N9ne. Production-wise, the beats are bold, brash, and in-your-face, with hard-knocking drums and walls on keyboards that wouldn't sound out of place in a club or radio setting. Though he definitely big-ups G.O.D. on most of his songs, it's done in a way that's easy to digest even if you're not about repping the higher power like that. Death Before Dishonor sports 13 tracks with minimal guest appearances; check out "I Will Survive," "Unconditional Love," and "Everybody's a Rapper."
