Blown Away

I streamed the album on the Guardian UK website a few days ago. It is absolutely amazing. Banger of the summer for sure.


Even though I am a more 'dance' listener (eg. dubstep, house), I must say that I was hooked by I Waited for You and Cerulean. Interesting beats. Fresh and futuristic. My elevator music anthems.

Best Electro of

So glad to see SMD on iTunes "Best Albums of 2012!" Simian's 4th proper album, "Unpatterns" defo. does not disappoint. Good to see them back to form, releasing deep electro-based house music with their signature analog synths. Many found their last effort "Delicacies"-- a departure from Disco's quasi-poppy dance tunes to a narrative structure based on strange and exotic foods-- somewhat disappointing. I prefer my Simian Disco mobile, moving through my speakers like their namesake animal, swinging with joy through jungle (no pun intended for sub-genres of dance music.) Here's to hoping they keep releasing EP's and singles, like the trippy pong-based video/ screensaver "Cerulean," in the coming year, instead of making us wait in heated anticipation like after "Temporary Pleasures."

Producers/remixers James Ford and James Shaw formed Simian Mobile Disco in 2005, following their departure from the experimental electronic rock band Simian. The two had originally formed Simian with singer Simon Lord and Alex MacNaughton in the late '90s.
