iTunes Review

Seven Year Ache was pretty revolutionary for its time. Ostensibly a country album, it encompassed introspective singer/songwriter sounds (“Blue Moon With Heartache”), synth-flecked pop-rock (the title track), classic-sounding twang (“My Baby Thinks He’s a Train”), and straight-up rockers, all giving you the feeling that you’re getting a peek at what lies deep within an eclectic artist’s complicated soul. With a more modernistic sound than her famous father’s (even if he was an influence), Rosanne Cash presented a new path for country with this 1981 milestone.

A First Generation Fans Review

I have been a fan of Rosanne for over 20 years. This album is the one that got me hooked. Every song on here is a winner. Do yourself a favor and download the whole album. Believe me, it is meant to be heard from start to finish. (Especially tracks 1-10.) Back in the day when it came out, it was billed as a concept album. And it lives up to it!

Seven Year Ache

I don't usually listen to country, but when I heard Seven Year Ache on a country radio station I fell in love with it at first listen. I thought it was Fleetwood Mac". I had no idea that Roseanne could deliver a hit like that. If you like good music then do yourself a favor and at least listen to it a couple times through. It will leave you aching for more? (awesome album cover too)

The history of popular music is littered with the careers of the children of famous artists, performers who manage to carve out some small measure of success based far less on talent than on the recognition that their famous names afford them. Perhaps no greater exception to this trend was Rosanne Cash, the daughter of Johnny Cash, whose idiosyncratic and innovative music made her one of the preeminent singer/songwriters of her day. Born May 24, 1955, to her father and his first wife, Vivian Liberto,...
