Editors’ Notes

A GRAMMY-winning singer, songwriter, and producer, Robin Thicke has long since escaped the shadow of his famous father, becoming a reliable go-to guy for quality modern R&B, collaborating with a wide variety of artists, including Usher, Lil Wayne, and Michael Jackson. Known for his falsetto vocal tone, lush arrangements, and bedroom-obsessed lyricism, he's kind of like a white R. Kelly, with a slightly more subtle approach and far less courtroom drama. Sex Therapy is his fourth full-length, and runs the gamut from gentle ballads ("2 Luv Birds") to more aggressive club jams ("Shakin' It 4 Daddy") and breezy party starters such as "Meiplé" with Jay-Z. The jazzy vamp of "Million Dolla Baby" and vaguely tropical "Jus Right" are also impressive; for extra bonus tracks, check out the enhanced version The Experience.

Sigh

I'm disappointed in this album. It feels like Robin Thicke sold out to sell records. The one thing I liked about Robin's previous albums were that he knew how to romance a woman with his music and now it's "shake it for daddy"??? Seriously? If you take out the guest tracks, it's a good album. With them in it, it's just sad. It feels like he let other people make his music.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS

If you like a quality artists who can sing without the aid of auto tune and create original music...then DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS ALBUM! This is a must buy. Check out Sex Therapy, Mrs. Sexy, Make U Love Me, It's In the Mornin', 2 Luv Birds, and Jus Right. Shakin' It 4 Daddy is not the Robin Thicke norm, but a nice change of pace. There are a couple of songs that have featuring artists and would've been better left alone, especially, "It's In the Mornin'." Don't get me wrong, I love Snoop, but this song would've stood on it's own without the feature. However this is a minor blip on, what will inevitably be the most underrated album of 09', by the most underrated talent. Purchase the entire album, give it a real listen and you will be hooked! If you haven't checked out Mr. Thicke's previous works, you're MISSING out! SUPPORT REAL MUSIC ARTISTS AND BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY!

Oh, What A Disapointment!

I really hate to say this but I do not like this album. I had such high expectations for Robin Thicke, I purchased this album without even sampling it. He is one of those artist who draws recognition by name alone, but...I think that this album is way too explicit. There is such a difference between this album and his previous music. I hope that he goes back to whomever produce his music before because I believe he has real talent. I like maybe two songs that I like. You just don't have to get down into the trenches to sell, ROBIN!!!

Genre: R&B/Soul

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

One of the more charismatic, flashy, and commercially successful R&B acts of the 2000s and 2010s, Robin Thicke didn't have the toughest row to hoe to achieve stardom, but he was one of the least likely artists to acquire street credibility. He worked for over a decade as a modestly successful songwriter and fledgling solo artist prior to breaking through — assisted by the Neptunes — with 2006's The Evolution of Robin Thicke. On that album, his inspirations, ranging from '70s Marvin...
