Album Review

The adrenaline rush is similar to an action movie scene — complete with last-minute getaway and obligatory explosion — when you first listen to Kiss It Goodbye's She Loves Me She Loves Me Not. But don't expect these guys to appear on the soundtrack for a Speed sequel — the album has a heavy, complex, structured hardcore feel that sounds like nothing else on the market (nor could they be imitated).

Customer Reviews

This record changed my life.

Yeah, a lot of people say that about a lot of records, but I still remember the night vividly when I sat with some friends in a club in Houston and these guys exploded onto the stage and rocked my face off. That night I bought this record and listened to it for at least a year straight. At the time it was like nothing I'd ever heard. Sure, I was into Jesus Lizard, and the Cherubs, and Slug and Unsane and all of that AmRep stuff, but this was different. While the other stuff got my ire up a bit, this made me want to murder someone. Brutally. And being a young man at the time, it was a great release of a lot of emotions that I didn't understand. I remember driving, and screaming along, pounding the steering wheel... it was utter catharsis. The sad thing is, this band was entirely too short-lived, and there really isn't anything left like it. Playing Enemy was around for awhile, and they featured members of Kiss it Goodbye, but they weren't quite as satisfying (sorry guys). The Young Widows is about the closest you'll get today. So, buy this record, listen to it loud, and feel the release. Oh, and Sick Day, best.song.ever.

Phenomenal

This album is sick, the screaming alone makes you want to go hide in a corner. The vocals go from talking one minute to the most amazing scream you've heard. Helvetica and What If are the best tracks. It doesn't get any harder than Kiss it Goodbye.

Biography

Formed: 1996 in Seattle, WA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s

Vocalist Tim "Trim Swinger" Singer's talking, screaming, bellowing vocal storytelling sat so nicely atop Kiss It Goodbye's dynamic and explosive songcraft that drummer Andrew Gormley would later remark to Eclipse magazine that the screamer could effectively make "me throwing my drums around the room" sound good. Equal parts off-time warping and heavy crunching guitar play, Kiss It Goodbye's music was pummeling enough to appeal to fans of Pantera, personal enough for the hardcore set, and mind-bendingly...
