Album Review

After breaking through to the mainstream with her Apple-advertised hit "New Soul," Franco-Israeli singer/songwriter Yael Naim returns with her third studio album, and her second with percussionist David Donatien, She Was a Boy. The follow-up to 2008's self-titled sophomore outing incorporates classical and Middle Eastern influences into her trademark brand of sultry jazz-folk, and includes the single "Go to the River." ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

a revelation

Yael Naim is a truly gifted singer/songwriter and a very inventive arranger. This album superbly illustrates her ease at playing through multiple styles and her gift for storytelling through song. And, better than all that, she's giving trombonists and clarinetists great work!!! Can't wait for the next one!

Excellent Sophomore effort

If you liked Naim's first album at all, you LOVE "She Was a Boy." This album greatly surpassed expectations. Prepare to be impressed! Beautiful voice, beautiful production, beautiful music.
