Album Review

After splitting from the Ramones in 1989, co-founding member Dee Dee Ramone tried his hand at a variety of projects — a recording career as a rapper, penning books, painting — but it was his work with the Ramones that he will always be best remembered for. Eventually, Dee Dee began playing Ramones covers and originals once more (as a solo act), resulting in such releases as 2000's Greatest & Latest. Joined by his wife, Barbara Ramone (who supplies Joan Jett-like lead vocals to several songs), Dee Dee rips through such Ramones standards as "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Teenage Lobotomy," "Cretin Hop," and "Pinhead," in addition to covers (the Everly Brothers' "Cathy's Clown") and Ramones-like originals ("Fix Yourself Up"). Obviously aimed at hardcore Ramones fans who need every recording in their collections, Greatest & Latest is a fun listen, but (does this really need to be said?) is in no way comparable to the definitive, ultra-classic original versions.

Dee Dee Ramone, the one and only!

Dee Dee Ramone was the soul of the Ramones. As the songwriter or co-songwriter of many of their most beloved songs, he was directly responsible for how good those first 5 albums were. This record finds him in great form, playing classics, some originals and some covers full of fury and passion! A must for any Ramones fan. R.I.P. Dee Dee, we miss you!

Well, it's Dee Dee Ramone.

He isn't The Ramones, but he did write pretty much all of these songs... so, unlike most covers, he genuinely has the right to cover them. He does manage to sound pretty decent, and Motorbikin' and Shaking All Over are two great songs as well... don't get this album as an alternative to The Ramones, get it as an addition to your collection.

Ramones Fans

If your a true Ramones fan then you will buy some of this its a shame Dee Dee left and was replaced by CJ who's not as nearly as good, get "Motorbikin" some Ramones covers and if u want some softer songs get "Cathy's Clown"(cover) and "Come On Now", Dee Dee was the Best! If u noticed Ramones started to do bad after Dee Dee and Marky left so get the man who would of exceeded greatly he made Rock n Roll Hall of Fame after all!!
