Next to Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, and Trace Adkins, Gwyneth Paltrow as a Nashville country music star may seem like a hard sell. But just listen to the opening title track to the 2010 movie Country Strong, where she nails a convincing drawl and holds down soaring choruses without the need for Auto-Tune effects. Chris Young and Patty Loveless follow her with the endearing little duet “Love Don’t Let Me Down” before Sara Evans delivers the soundtrack’s most powerful number, the emotional “A Little Bit Stronger.” Where most of the tracks on Country Strong lean just a bit harder on the country side of country-pop, Hank Williams Jr. provides a refreshing contrast with “Thirsty,” a Southern rock drinking song trimmed with banjo, fiddle, and audience participation. Paltrow matches Bocephus with the fittingly titled “Shake That Thing.”
NO NO NO!
They NEED Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester's Version of Give in to me!!!!
This is great but...
I really wish they would have released Leighton and Garrett's duet of "Give Into Me". It's my favorite song from the movie, and as much as the Faith Hill version is lovely, they had so much chemistry on that track. And Leighton's voice on it was wonderfully raw and beautiful.
remaking Give into me
so disappointed to see that they decided to only put the faith hill verison of 'give into me' on the album. the duet is so beautiful and honestly this song just sounds better as a duet. i wish they had both verisons on the album. or at least have tim mcgraw and faith hill do the duet...i don't know. i just ended up searching elsewhere for the Leighton Meester, Garrett Hedlund version. oh well.
