31 Songs, 1 Hour 39 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Sgt. Pepper's was recorded in a four-month span beginning in 1966. The advent of new studio techniques such as multitrack recording and pitch shifting (recording tracks at different speeds) as well as the band's increasingly diverse influences led to the LP's kaleidoscope of sound experiments (music hall, Western and Eastern classical, rock 'n' roll). The album, from the pop-art packaging to the gapless track sequencing, successfully put forth the idea that music and art were synonymous. This deluxe set features alternate takes, new mixes, reprises, speeches, instrumentals, and other curiosities.

No way

This sounds AMAZING. Amazing. Never thought this would be anything but a $$$ grab. I've been a fan since I was 8, (38 now) and I'm a fanatic. Crank this on a good system, the clarity and desperation... it’s like you’re in the room with them.
It’s not pumped up in a slick, gross way, it stays true to the atmosphere of sgt pepper, but the panning is phenomenal, (I heard so many things I'd never heard before!) and the volume is up a bit.
As a life long Beatles fanatic/purest, musician/producer, and an audiophile, this is Christmas. SOUNDS SO GOOD.

SGT.PEPPER AND THE DEFINITIVE JOURNEY

“NEVER TO SEE ANY OTHER

WAY.......”
...................................

When I was 5 YEARS OLD,I began to have OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES akin to what child psychologists would later call fitful dreams. But the truth of what they really were wouldnt become apparent to me for another 20 years. When I formally began my DEFINITIVE JOURNEY as a 20th century BRUJO.However,at the time of my initiation, the DREAMS that I kept experiencing night after night after the night, all seemed to fit a schematic pattern.Whereby, they would start off as child’s play, with some children(mostly girls)playing with me,then the DREAM would get progressively darker and scarier, until the same pretty little girl with ribbons in her hair would take me to a door(Always the same door)and ask me to join her inside this door forever! While my INNERVOICE would forceably dissuade me from entering this door into this MYSTICAL HOUSE,as I always understood implicitly that to do so would lead to my untimely death......and then................I WOULD WAKE UP!When SGT PEPPER(in its original mono form)was released.FOUR YEARS LATER, It SCARED THE LIVING HELL OUT OF ME!As it seemed as if the Beatles were recreating an aural enactment of my early OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCES.With side one fitting the pattern of PRELUDE or the lightning before the ⛈ storm. While SIDE TWO with the remarkable WITHIN YOU,WITHOUT YOU(probably the greatest and deepest song that George Harrison ever recorded)symbolizing for me the part of the DREAM when I would begin to comprehend that it was all a show of sorts for my benefit(aka;A TRAP)but, that the GRAND FINALE had yet to occur. With SGT.PEPPER REPRISE,as the FALSE CLIMAX,which A DAY IN THE LIFE with its DOOM-LADEN CHORD would soon actualize in the most dramatically chilling way imaginable.Just as I would think that I had awakened, but, then would be plunged back into the DREAM................AND AN ENDING THAT SOMEHOW NEVER SEEMED TO BE THE END!
The WORLD WAR TWO historian STEPHEN AMBROSE,in commenting upon the ultimate impact of the ALLIED D-DAY INVASION stated, that everything prior to D DAY had been in a GLOBAL/MILITARYsense,leading up to D DAY.While everything that has occured since D DAY has HAPPENNED because of D DAY.Whether Ambrose thesis is correct or incorrect?I do believe that taken within a SOCIO-CULTURAL context, that it now must be said 51 YEARS FROM ITS INITIAL RELEASE,NOW IN ETHEREAL AND MAGNETIC STEREO ,THAT SGT.PEPPER AND A DAY IN THE LIFE REPRESENT A SIMILAR MOTIF.WITH EVERYTHING BEFORE PEPPER LEADING INTO PEPPER,AND EVERYTHING SINCE PEPPER...............LEADING US TO NOW!

Listen to this remarkable re-production,and have your own DEFINITIVE JOURNEY OF THE SOUL.

Amazing...one day I hope all Beatles albums will receive this treatment

Incredibly sounding album. Great mix. Everything can be heard, all clear in its glory! I was born in the seventies after the Beatles broke up, but I grew up listening to them. This is by far the best sounding they have ever been. I am hoping they can do this treatment to at least Rubber Soul, Revolver, the White Album, Abbey Road, and Let it Be. I loved the takes where you can hear the songs evolving. If you are fan of the original album or The Beatles, this is a must have.
