Sincerity still exists

What happened here is special. A lot of musicians attempt to evoke that rare combination of Joni Mitchell and early Springsteen, and even with Norah Jones singing lead, they often fail. Luckily for us, Leslie and The Badgers prove that raw emotion, thoughtful orchestration and the sheer excitement of finding a new voice to listen to still happens. "Greetings From..." is a gentle mix of balanced tracks from the instant, head-nodding melody of "Old Timers" to the classic intimacy of "Food of Love". The band plays well together, and Leslie Stevens' lead vocals ring with a sweetness tempered by the small disappointments we all share. I don't know when a full album is on the way, but this reviewer is looking forward.

But what really separates Leslie And The Badgers from countless other "alt-country" wannabes is bandleader Leslie Steven's silky, powerful vocals. If there's any justice in this world LATB will get signed, take over the world, and show Jenny Lewis how it's done.
