EDITORS’ NOTES

James Taylor: Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 opens gently with a re-recording of “Something In the Way She Moves” from his self-titled debut album (this take without the psychedelic harpsichord intro). “Carolina In My Mind” also gets the soft rock redo. “Fire and Rain” as well as the title-track follow in their familiar warmth. “Taylor’s semi-soulful take on the 1964 Motown hit “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” is another standout.

Live "Steamroller" Replaced By Studio Original

The vinyl LP fans have noticed it already, and the above review claims that "Steamroller" here is LIVE but this CD replaces it with the original 1970 studio version from the "Sweet Baby James" album. Too bad because this was the only album with that explicit rockin' bluesy live version. Docked One Star!
