iTunes Review

True to style, Wolfgang Gartner’s first full-length album, Weekend in America, is infused with equal parts hip-hop mainstream crossover appeal and traditional electro house breakdowns. Features from rappers Eve, Jim Jones, and Cam'Ron (“Get Em,” “Circus Freaks”) are an appeal to transition listeners from Generation X. Tracks with ("Forever") and Omarion ("Still My Baby") are undeniably pop. Wolfgang's sweet spot, however, is progressive house. The vintage arcade sound effects on "Space Junk" have made it a mainstay track in DJ sets worldwide. Elements of electro house shine through in the glitchy “818,” which elicits visions of a grungy underground club in the city from which the song draws its name: Los Angeles. Rounding out the album, “Shrunken Heads” and “Illmerica” represent the typical Wolfgang Gartner progressive synth sound that has fans clamoring for more. This version of the album also features two bonus tracks.

illmerica is the greatest song known to mankind. also, im a boss

Amazing Album - just don't overlook the pop artists!

I know many loyal followers of Wolfgang Gartner have a tendency to scoff at artists such Will.I.Am, Jim Jones, and Eve. ...and it's just stupid. This album is undoubtably one of the best electro house records of all time, and I, completely honestly, pray that one of these tracks makes top 40. It's about time pop music took its head out from under a rock. So, tell your pop loving friends about this stuff! Doesn't he deserve it just as much as David Guetta? Seriously!

Still My Baby, 818, The Way It Was, Shrunken Heads and Get 'Em are some of my favorites of the new tracks. Illmerica and Space Junk have already earned their place as some of best stuff on the scene.

Never heard of wolfgang before some friends invited me to go see him with them back in april, he blew my mind to say the least and basically played this whole album. Cant even begin to say how anxiously ive waited to hear these gems again. Buy this! Probably one of the best debut albums of all time!!!

Genre: Dance

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The most commercial alias for Joey Youngman -- the DJ and dance producer who also recorded as Bosco & Terell, Count Funkula, Frequent Flyers, the Girth, Mario Fabriani, and Spyro Pappadopoulos, not to mention monikers for his several collaborative projects -- Wolfgang Gartner functioned as an outlet for his active and noise-packed electro-house productions, which contrasted greatly with his more sophisticated and "tasteful" deep house releases. Youngman didn't reveal that he was behind Wolfgang Gartner...
