Reseña de álbum

Kitaro's music is fluid and harmonic, as he blends smooth electronic lines with influences from traditional Japanese music, rock, and the romantic Western tradition. Silk Road is a phenomenal success and very possibly the best Kitaro release. There are incredible transitions throughout the pieces, making this a true masterpiece and a treasure to own. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats, Rovi

Track 5 IS complete!!!

To the reviewer who expressed concerns about track 5 being incomplete, I have good news for you. The abrupt 'cut-off' ending to this track was intentional. I originally bought Kitaro's "Silk Road" on vinyl back in 1987 and the 'cut-off' ending to track 5 (side one of the vinyl) is there on my original LP (also, my LP has this track as being timed at 1:54). I can understand why people would think that this track is defective if they're not familiar with the original album. If I was hearing this album for the first time ever in 2010, I'd be VERY concerned too. Rest assured, the abrupt ending to this track is not the fault of iTunes. It's the way the track actually ends.

Amazing musical landscape

I grew up listening to this while reading fantasy novels. When I hear this music it seems magical to me beyond belief, it brings back memories of a bean bag chair under my loft bed sitting next to my book shelf with a clip on lamp attached to the rafters of my bed.

Kitaro's style is the epitome of the contemplative, highly melodic synthesizer music often associated with the new-age movement. Interestingly enough, this famous Japanese composer taught himself to play electric guitar in high school — inspired by the R&B music of Otis Redding. In the early '70s, Kitaro formed the Far East Family Band, which released two albums of progressive rock. In 1972, however, he met the innovative German synthesist Klaus Schulze during a trip to Europe. Kitaro was...
