iTunes Review

Bob Mould always does his best work working with a consistent group. Nothing fancy, just a bass player and a solid drummer will do. And that's exactly what he gets for Silver Age. Bassist Jason Narducy (Verbow) and drummer Jon Wurster (Superchunk, Mountain Goats) provide the brutal kick that brings Mould right back to the glories of Husker Du and Sugar. Mould's guitar tone provides much of the excitement. His opening chords for "Star Machine reverberate with an urgency that signals the glorious ride ahead. "Keep Believing" shines with a strong stereo mix with guitars that chime. Catchy pop melodies lurk underneath the clatter. "Briefest Moment" could be a power-pop gem if not overloaded with a punk rocker's aggression and "Round The City Square" features a swirling melody deliberately overwhelmed by a wall of sound. By the time Mould slows down for "First Time Joy," it sounds like it's more for our benefit than his. A live version of "The Descent," the album's first single, is included as a bonus track.

Bob at his best!

Copper Blue meets Beaster meets Black Sheets of Rain meets Candy Apple Grey! This is truly a masterpiece by Bob! As on Copper Blue you get a song by song flow that is unstoppable and the raw guitar that Bob himself is known for. I admire artists for broadening their horizons but there is nothing like their roots! I love every album from Bob but Silve Age really stands out in my opinion. It's just a shame that a lot of people will not realize that this is out there for them! Yes iTunes this is a new release today! Would be nice to see it on your front page new releases! Anyway thanks Bob and we will see you in Chicago.

Classic Bob - Great Songs

For the long time fan I all I can say is classic Bob. I would put this album up against SUGAR's FU:EL or Copper Blue in comparison of style. I am loving it on my first listen.

What we like best from Bob Mould

Admittedly I'm a longtime fan, since mid to late Husker Du. What most of us love about his writing is the passion with driving guitar and melodies with lyrics that mean something. Only a gifted craftsman like Bob Mould can balance the drive and the touch together so well. I'm willing to say that this may get more time in my ears than any release he has made, even more than Candy Apple Grey, Copper Blue, or Workbook.
