searing intent

the saturated romanticism of anne-sophie mutter's performance is certainly not mozart. nevertheless, the music can support it, just, at an edge, and her searing intelligence has one fascinated, moment by moment in each piece. these are performances for the professional, the intelligentsia, their drama wasted on those who hear mozart rather than her intent.
