Fearless

Fearless

Legend is the industrial electronica duo of singer/songwriter Krummi Björgvinsson (of the critically acclaimed punk band Minus) and composer/producer Halldór A Björnsson from Reykjavik, Iceland. “Devil in Me” features Björgvinsson’s smooth yet masculine vocal delivery layered over a darkened, Depeche Mode–sounding backdrop rife with hard textures, akin to Nine Inch Nails. That track was leaked to a Scandinavian radio station and shot up the charts. This necessitated further recordings between the two, resulting in Legend's 2012 debut album, Fearless. The opening instrumental, “Amazon War,” sets the tone here, with icy synthesizers approximating Iceland’s arctic sheets before battle drums hammer down like marching soldiers. It plays like an intersection between Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Vangelis’ 1982 score for Blade Runner. “Violence” is an equally haunting electro-dirge, in which Björgvinsson’s lower vocal registers recall Alice in Chains' late singer, Layne Staley.
