Album Review

Jefferson Starship had figured out how to craft high-octane, high-gloss AOR rock with Red Octopus, a highlight of mainstream hard rock in the '70s. Earth found the group replicating this formula, and while it isn't as successful as Red Octopus, which was a masterpiece of sorts, it does deliver enough power ballads and hard-hitting, polished rock to make it of interest to the Starship's dedicated followers.

This record is just stunning.

The Best Jefferson Starship Album

I bought this album when it was released in 1978 and just listened to it again recently. It holds up better than many pop records from this area. There are really good melodies, harmonies, and hooks in these songs.As an aside, Grace Slick was an amazing talent who may have retired too early. But I guess it’s better to leave a little too early than to overstay your welcome.
