EDITORS’ NOTES

Slipknot’s 1999 self-titled debut is a harrowing ride through diverse metal subgenres, including death, thrash, and speed. But it doesn’t stop there: Slipknot also touches on grunge and rap metal, skillfully melding all the influences into a holistic and unrelenting heaviness. The sonic chaos hits a fever pitch on the savage “Tattered & Torn” and the furiously warped “Scissors,” each a perfect storm of planet-destroying percussion, ferocious vocals, and sludgy walls of guitar noise.

First!

Seriously, how did I get first? This is such an amazing album that I would expect to have tons of reviews. This was nu-metal at its finest. My favorites are "eyeless" and "diluted". Stay sic!!

Diluted

This album is the greatest thing slipknot has ever done and will ever do. It's so heavy and they put everything they had into it. That's what makes a great album. Putting heart and soul into everything. While some of the choruses are a little generic lyrically wise the music and Corey Taylor's singing certainly makes up for it. This is what heavy metal should be. Truly one of the great metal albums ever. All there other albums don't compare to this one. I hear a lot of people say "chapter 5 sounds just like there old stuff" apparently no ones ever listened to this album.

Best metal ever....period.

Drummer boy has no clue....I've been listening to metal for over 25 years and have to say this is the best album of all time. This absolutely blew me away in 99. Buy it without hesitation....you won't regret it.
