Editors’ Notes

Released in tandem with a documentary DVD, Live Revelations features highlights from Third Day’s summer and fall 2008 tour. These in-concert recording are more than perfunctory audio snapshots — the veteran Christian band positively smolders as they infuse both familiar tunes and an unexpected cover with renewed vigor. Mac Powell’s gruff yet plaintive voice has rarely sounded more authoritative. “This is Who I Am” and “Slow Down” are particularly on-target, applying the ferocity of Lynyrd Skynyrd in its prime to a sanctified cause. As good as these renditions are, the album’s most essential tracks are the two closing tunes. “Otherside” finds Third Day joined by gospel-rocker Robert Randolph, who spurs Powell on to heightened intensity. Even more spectacular is the band’s cover of U2’s “When Love Comes to Town,” featuring Randolph, Jars Of Clay frontman Dan Haseltine, and Switchfoot honcho Jon Foreman joining in vocals. While Third Day has released live albums before, this one may come the closest to capturing the revival-like excitement they generate on stage.

when love comes to town

i saw the music builds tour in indianapolis and mac powell called all the bands up on stage and did this one. it rocked! mac powell and robert randolph sang b.b. kings parts and jon foreman (of switchfoot) and dan haseltine (of jars of clay) sang bono's parts. if nothing else but when love comes to town. third day is amazing live and anything live by them is going to be great. i have also seen when love comes to town performed live by b.b.king and i liked it better at music builds. peace day viss

Everything from Third Day is Excellent!

I haven't listened to it yet as I just bought it. I've been checking the iTunes store all day to see when they were going to post it, and when the did, it's listed down towards the bottom of the Third Day albums. Anyway...I love all of the songs on here from Revelation and Third Day is incredible live, so I know it'll be great. I love all of their live songs and have a playlist for them on my iPod. I think their live songs are usually much better than their studio tracks.

This CD rocks!!!

I bought this cd and it is sooooooo good! I recommend this cd! "when love comes to town" is a great song and when Third Day came to Denver on tour with Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, Robert Randolph, they played this song and it rocked!!

Influenced by the Southern rock of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other artists such as U2 and Rich Mullins, Third Day were originally formed by vocalist Mac Powell and acoustic guitarist Mark Lee. Third Day's live shows gradually built them a loyal fan base, and just after lead guitarist Brad Avery joined, the band signed to Gray Dot Records. Their eponymous debut followed in 1996, with Conspiracy No....
