Album Review

This ad hoc collection of superb musicians managed to record one album before going their various ways. Bela Fleck (banjo), Jerry Douglas (dobro), Pat Enright (guitar), Roland White (mandolin), Blaine Sprouse (violin), and Mark Membree (bass) make fine, fun bluegrass. Nearly everyone sings on this entertaining set of originals and cover tunes. No pretensions, just energetic pickin' and harmonizing.

Customer Reviews

This is pretty much The Nashville Bluegrass Band with Bela Fleck and Jerry Douglas, so how could you go wrong? I originally bought this on vinyl in 1984 after seeing them all play at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, then bought a CD of it from Pat Enright himself when the NBB played in Arizona a few years ago. It's much more traditional bluegrass than a "new acoustic" recording but that's not a complaint. Starting with "Who's That Knocking..." it has the beautiful harmonies that the NBB is known for, and "Snakes Alive" gives the instrumentalists a chance to really show off. You'll love it.
