Impressive Debut

Raymond Carver was a one the the great short story writers of the twentieth century, known for his ability to convey a rich story through minimal vocabulary. His writing style became known as post-minimalism. Paying precise tribute to their namesake, Carver leaves so much more than just the lyrics and the first impression. Carver brings raw, honest music that demands attention and beckons the listener to keep coming back for more. The brawny voice of guitarist and vocalist Eli Nichols is powerful yet controlled, gritty yet refined. The cadence, hammered out by drummer Bryce Vernon, is technical but still unidealized, providing perfect compliment to the music's theme. In a debut album that is redolent of the Tom Petty of old and also comparable to the more modern Good Old War and Blitzen Trapper, Carver tells the story of Saturdays on the porch and reminiscing about old friends. Carver is American Rock at it's finest.
