Album Review

A group such as Between the Buried and Me is rare to find, as the jaw-dropping talent possessed by these five men seems almost too good to be true. While their eponymous debut is a muddled affair, the amazing skill of these musicians is quite obvious, careening from one extreme to another with little regard for human safety. The only real problem noticeable on this disc is the slight lack of direction, as every song is a seething concoction of math rock and pummeling heavy metal with little room for effective song structures. The members of Between the Buried and Me are also determined and vicious in their beliefs, as "Arsonist" is a horrific stab at a specific Kansas church that preaches against homosexuality. Very few groups have the courage to stand up and speak so freely, and for this Between the Buried and Me should be applauded. This is a chaotic album that rains with fiery determination, and even its weaknesses are thoroughly enjoyable, marking it as one of the fiercest albums in the hardcore community. ~ Jason D. Don't let Victory Records steal your money

BTBAM made it perfectly clear that they had nothing to do with the release of this album, and it's clearly just Victory Records trying to pump out old music once again due to their personal greed.

Honestly? Snapshot!? Four collectible snapshots? Victory, this is just pathetic of you guys and you're making an amazing band who I've personally supported for almost 7 years look foolish.

This album needs to be removed immediately and Victory Records should honestly get their priorities together because this album's release just makes everyone look bad.

Between the Buried and Me is the best band in the genre right now and makes me irate that they are being abused by the label just like so many bands before them.

This is just victory trying to make a quick buck. BTBAM asked for people to not buy this record and to boycott victory records.

Victory is pathetic

This is a lousy attempt at Victory records trying to profit from a band that no longer belongs to them. The only reason anyone has to not boycott Victory is to get BTBAM's older albums.

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Between the Buried and Me is a thinking man's hardcore unit hailing from Raleigh, North Carolina. The band began in 2000 after the dissolution of vocalist Tommy Rogers and guitarist Paul Waggoner's previous group, Prayer for Cleansing. Rogers and Waggoner completed their new lineup with the addition of guitarist Nick Fletcher, bassist Jason King (ex-Azazel), and drummer Mark Castillo, formerly of Bury Your Dead. An eponymous debut soon appeared, issued through the German indie Lifeforce, and the...
