Byron Lee & the Dragonaires

My favorite band growing up and still is for 50 years. I was shocked to hear of Byron Lee's passing in 2008, as I always look forward to hear and see him whenever he comes to LA. His music has a style of its own and makes you want to dance. Love all his albums. Soca from Guyana..

Byron Lee is one of the best. I love his voice and his music. If I am feeling down, I put some of his music on and no more down. He has what I call happy music. Nothing will ever take his place in the soca world. I hate to know that he is gone, but his music lives on. Him and his music will always be in my heart. He is the best. I'll never forget the first time I head soca music and didn't even know the name of it. Since then, a number of years ago, it is my favorite. Love it and always will, This album is another example of it, even though, I love the old time soca better than any of it. Baron, Beckett are some of the ones that I love. I can't find many of Baron or Beckett's somgs though on Itunes. I wish I could find more of them. A great one passed when we lost Byron Lee. My heart is full of sadness and love for him. Sassyy

The 14-piece Dragonaires featured an ever fluctuating line-up and are often cited as one of Jamaica’s first ska bands, although they were...
