Customer Reviews

Must have extra fingers on right hand

This is one of those recordings that is difficult to categorize. (Which is good) Cross cultural motifs abound. There is some excellent bass work and strong accompaniment. Definately worth the price of admission

Fresh, effervescent, and versatile

Matthew, son of the late Miami native Jimmy Garrison ( famous for his association with the John Coltrane Qt. in the 60’s ) proves on this CD that he can handle both elegance and virtuosity on a multi string electric bass ( at Bunny Brunel / C. Mc Bride level ) .
Dexterity utilized in a mature manner, versatile compositions, jazz, world beats, a bit of nicely done chanting…all proves that Mr. Matthew Garrison is obviously an underrated bassist, composer, and over all great musician of our time !
This is a truly excellent CD worth being added to any serious collection of contemporary music.

Mathew Garrison

His father was a great bass player. Did fine work with Elvin Jones and many others. This could only have influenced Mathew in a positive way. Having worked with the likes of monsters Zawinul & McLaughlin says it all. This is one awsome bassist. His style is intriguing and captivating. Would love to see him in concert. Get all his music.
