23 Songs, 1 Hour 24 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Stimulated by the pulse of late-’70s Manhattan, the Stones dove into the city’s musical subcultures and emerged with takes on disco (“Miss You”), punk (“Shattered”), and country (“Far Away Eyes”). Cheekiness is half the fun of Some Girls, but the other half is pure heart, especially the scrappy self-portrait of “Before They Make Me Run” and a twangy barroom cover of The Temptations’ “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me).” Sexy, scruffy, but radiant, “Beast of Burden” is the centerpiece of an album on which the group’s creative juices just flow.

"Deluxe"?

Explain to me, please, how a so-called "deluxe" edition of this fine album can have a bunch of interesting, but wholly extraneous, extra songs, and NOT have the EP version of "Miss You"? Astonishing!

Some Girls on main street

Wow I grew up on the Stones classics but did not get to see them until the Some Girls tour in Chicago. Some of these songs have been played out on the radio but I wanted to add this to my collection. The bonus tracks have made it a much greater album for me. It adds the Stones brand of blues and country rock to a classic later album. If the Stones released all these songs together in a double album it would be ranked higher as one of thier best.

Great

The album that closed the gold decade of The Rolling Stones: the 70's. After this album, the other good album released by The Stones was Tattoo You.
