Long review *sigh*
Long, in depth review:
Attack Attack! comes straight out of the hardcore music scene around Columbus, Ohio, but they aren't the typical screamo, breakdown band. With their synth breakdowns and catchy choruses, they have surpassed the norm of hardcore label. This album debut, but their sophmore album is even greater. This album deserves a four and a half, but iTunes doesn't give you that option.
Hot Grills, and High Tops- 5
This song is such a badass intro to such a great album. You have your synthesizers and even have your shout outs. Kind of gives you the feeling or a rap song...but hey! Like I said. Attack Attack isn't normal.
Stick Stickly- 5
It's been over 3 years and this is still one of the greatest hardcore songs I have ever heard. It's got your heavy guitars, brutal screams, and a synth breakdown that makes the arms on your hair stand up. If you get one song off this album, this needs to be the one.
Bro, Ashley's Here- 4.5
This is one of the better songs on the album. Very catchy chorus and such good harmonies with the synth in the back ground. Even with the more poppy choruses it still manages to have it's heavy parts with their keyboard player even making a vocal appearance with his amazing death growls...get this one too.
Shred, White, and Blue- 4
Again, one of the better songs on the album. To me, the drums on this song are especcially good and again you have the amazing harmonies with the vocals with echoing, face punching screams. Not as much synthesizer and keys in this song, but vocally this song is fantastic.
Party Foul- 5
This song has a couple of good catchy synth parts that you can hear throughout most of the song. No singing in this song, but still one of the best songs on the album.
What Happens If I Can't Check...-3
Not one of my favorites, but it's still a good song. There's not too much special about it, but hey, some songs don't have to be outstanding. Kind of a break from their high level of awesomeness. :)
Holy goodness gosh gracious! Why the hell isn't there a better name for this song than "Interlude"?!?!!! Songs starts: simple bass and synth...then let Caleb Shomo invade your ears! Just check it out for yourself, please! This song is definitely Attack Attack!, but there is no singing, screaming, or guitars; 100 percent synthesizer. Great trance song for fans of the band or just electronic music fans.
The People's Elbow- 3
Nothing too special to this song besides the synthesizer and the gang vocals screaming "Oh the blood, oh the blood of the massacre!" at the end of the song. That part is pretty sick.
Kickin' Wing, Animal Doctor- 4
This is a good song screaming wise with a bit of an encouraging lyrics part around the 1:50 mark. If you want to have a hardcore song with good, Christian lyrics, this is your song.
Dr. Shavargo Pt. 3- 4
I'm personally more a fan of Dr. Shavargo Pt. 2 from their self-title EP (not on iTunes), but still a good song all the same. This song is a good song to get you into Attack Attack! because it's well rounded showing off every part of the band with a pop breakdown near the end.
Catfish Soup- 5
A wonderful song for the end of the album. You kind of feel the closure I guess you could say. Outstanding song vocal wise. Ends going straight into the Outro. Catfish Soup and the outro really should be one song because one is not the same without the other.
Wonderful keys again from Caleb Shomo.
So there's my review! If you like Someday Came Suddenly, then you'll probably like their follow up album as well as artists such as I See Stars and Asking Alexandria. Their screamer on this album (Autin Carlile) also screams on Of Mice & Men's self-titled debut, but was kicked out of the band shortly after it's release, so he is no in Attack Attack! anymore either.
I hope this review helped at least someone. Why this album was re-released? I do not know, haha, but this is not an album or band that should be overlooked.
rly beautiful music ^.=.^
