Utterly unlike HNIA's back catalog

Warn Defever has admitted in interviews since the release of this record that his only goal with this album was to offer a backdrop to Lovetta Pippin's voice. This has caused many "old-school" HNIA fans to cry foul, since one of the most enjoyable things about Defever's past recordings is his lush ecclecticism and willingness to experiment challenge, and be challenged by his own past accomplishments, but if you take this record for what it is, it is a masterpiece. Warn has traded the metallic sharpness of his past soundscapes for the Pippin's warm beauty, and the result is one of his most cohesive, heart-wrenching recordings yet.
