Superb

In reading some of the previous negative reviews, I am struck by the fact that one reviewer complains about her Chopin, and another, her Debussy. Fact: besides the Bach, the other featured composer is Schubert! Therefore, ignore those negative reviews, as those ignoramuses don't have the sense to know what they are listening to!

This album is one of the most present and moving solo albums I have ever heard on any instrument. Ms. Dinnerstein's touch, her phrasing, her sense of the long line with every detail in place moves me deeply.

All I can say is: Sit down and listen; don't talk to anyone or ready your Sunday NY Times - just listen - maybe only to a track or two, but really listen, savor, and prepare to be moved.

Doesn't quite cut it

While the tone is beautiful the tempi are languid with almost no forward movement or overall structure, especially in the Bach dance movements. A very pretty performance but not really what I am looking for in Bach or Schubert

Something Almost Being Played

I was VERY disappointed with this cd. She has quite the reputation but this recording makes me question why?? This is not Bach or Schubert; this is Dinnerstein and a great publicist. There is not a sense of forward motion, no sense of harmonic rhythm and no sense of style. Her Bach sounds like it is a mash-up with Debussy. The overall impression of this recording makes me feel like I'm listening to a new age crossover artist. It's in line with Jackie Evancho singing "opera." If you want to hear the Bach Partitas done well, I'd suggest Andras Schiff's live recording. For the Schubert Impromptus, check out Imogen Cooper. I will keep this recording and use it as an example of how not to play.
